Friedhelm K. Radandt, Ph.D. (University of Chicago)
President
(PH) (909) 335-8863 ext. 109 Dr. Radandt

A recognized academic leader, Dr. Radandt has spent more than forty years in higher education. A successful career in the undergraduate and graduate classroom catapulted him early into administrative positions first as chief academic officer, and then as college president.

Dr. Radandt assumed the presidency of Northwestern College in Iowa in 1979, and watched the institution grow in enrollment, in quality facilities, in financial strength, in academic development, and in Christian commitment.

In 1985, he became the third president of The King's College, located in Westchester County, New York. At King's, Dr. Radandt saw the hopes for a much needed and most promising campus relocation dashed. The result was that the College had to suspend all operations for the years 1995-1998. However, out of this difficult experience came the gracious rebirth of King's in 1998, as an affiliate of Campus Crusade for Christ and as an urban Christian college in the heart of New York City, with its campus in the Empire State Building. Dr. Radandt continued his service as president through 2002, when he became President Emeritus of The King's College.

Dr. Radandt is a native of Germany and also a graduate of the Baptist Theological Seminary of Hamburg, Germany. Upon graduation, he served as district youth secretary for the Baptist churches of Northern Germany. In that role he conducted youth evangelistic meetings and trained youth leaders. He and his wife Elizabeth came to the United States in 1960. They have three children and eight grandchildren.

Dr. Radandt earned his doctorate at the distinguished University of Chicago and was a member of the University's faculty in the sixties. He authored several articles and is a contributor to the renowned Encyclopedia of Religion. Dr. Radandt has also published a history of eighteenth century German literature.

The overriding and consuming goal of Dr. Radandt has been and continues to be to achieve excellence in academics and to imbue students with a solid biblical worldview, one that combines personal devotion to Christ with clear thought patterns and leadership actions that are anchored in Christian ethics and in prayer. His strong emphases on Christian discipleship and also on spiritual formation have shaped the lives of students.

Throughout his career, Dr. Radandt has been active in community and church service. Highlights include his service a s chairman of the board of the Christian College Coalition, his ongoing work with pastoral leaders of New York City's evangelical ethnic churches, and his service at the official Youth Council of the City of Hamburg, Germany where he was involved in hosting a memorial day at the Bergen Belsen concentration camp site for some seven thousand German young people from Berlin and Hamburg.

Currently, Dr. Radandt pursues a ministry of writing and lecturing, but also of continued involvement in the work of the church in New York City.
