Update

CCC GOES THROUGH GROWING PAINS...but all for the better. Beginning July 1st Dr. Bruce Prins will be on staff full-time as the Academic Dean. This is a great loss for ACA but CCC will benefit from his expertise in the sciences as well as his administrative skills. Dr. John Harbison will assume the duties of the Dean of Students full-time on July 1st. Just six weeks ago, Dr. Leon Obien came on board as our Recruiter and has begun an aggressive program of reaching out to new students. He is also workng vigorously on retention of our current students which is vital to our future. Some other positions which are of interest are: Registrar, Dolly Cruz; Admissions, Jessica Benton; Librarian, Marilyn Hope. This team will bring great coherence and strength to the administration of CCC. Something that we have needed so badly at times as we have had to make many decisions which really required on-site discussions with the department heads as to proper priority and implementation. God has worked out all these things in His time and there is a real confidence that all is in His control.

ACCREDITATION STATUS

We have had great frustration in getting the proper representation to critique our self-study and help us get a site visit scheduled so we can get on with the busines of accreditation. We have worked many hours on many details to bring all the areas into compliance with the proper policies and procedures which TRACS has established in their instruction manuals. We feel we are 95% completed with these tasks and in "basic compliance" with all the requirements for the next step on teh accreditation ladder. We have concluded that we have committed this timeline to the Lord and are asking Him to set these schedules in His divine time. (Oh, it is so hard to be patient... but those of you who have gone through this process before, know what we are talking about.) We would like to have a site visit in September and if we are approved for candidacy we would go before the commission in November. Your prayers are welcome ! ! !

We have a letter from Dr. Russell Fitzgerald, Executive Director of TRACS, which reads as follows: "I am happy with the progress CCC is making toward accreditation and I will be meeting with our Regional Coordinators for a possible candiate team and will include CCC on that list." This is a very encouraging word to all of us here.

CCC BOARD TO MEET IN JUNE

June 12th is the next quarterly Board of Trustees' meeting. Chairman Don Nydam is anticipating an excellent response from all the Trustee members as this is the meeting where all the work of the various committees must be approved. Everything must be in accordance with how we are operating the College and that every aspect of assessment of the work of these committees will be approved as completed and described in the manuals which we are revising for the team visit, whenver that occurs.

Mr. Nydam has worked hard and long on this project and given hundreds of hours of writing and prayer to the cause to "make it happen." What a blessing to have men like Don and Jim Hooyenga in Sun Valley to spearhead this very worthy educational venue which is called Communty Christian College. Without them we would not exist. This is why the Advancement Committee is so important to become involved so we can reach the intended goals of Cal Grants and Title IV Funds for the future students at CCC.

REMEMBER SERVICE PERSONNEL OVERSEAS IN PRAYER FOR THEIR SAFETY AND SPIRITUAL COMMITMENT.

OUR SCRIPTURE FOR THE MONTH...MARK 11:24

Jesus is speaking and says to His discples, "Whatsoever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them...and you shall have them." What a powerful verse for us during this time at CCC. The board, faculty, students, staff and interested friends need to take this verse to heart and BELIEVE that what Jesus said is for real and we can have whatsoever we ask. Believest thou this? We need miracles, we need faith, and we need people who will stand shoulder to shoulder in prayer in believing that all things are possible to those who believe.

It's great to trust the Lord for all things! This is a venture that will ring through all eternity with lives of young people trained at CCC.

LIBRARY BOOKS

Marilyn Hope has been so excited about all the books which have been coming in from the appeal that was sent out a few weeks ago... but that presents another problem. They all have to be cataloged. Progress is being made, but the office has looked like a Disneyland maze as we have boxes all over the place. However, we are grateful to so many who have sent us books. Thanks to Dr. Richard Christopherson, Dr. Bill Bean, Dr. Paul Little, Dr. Alberta Hanson, Ron Messenger, Cynthia Miller, Dr. Fritz Bromburger, Mr. Jan Mack and others. We are overwhelmed with people's generosity who are willing to help us reach our goal of 5000 books by this Fall.

SUMMER CLASSES

For the first time CCC might be offering a summer course in Introduction to Christian Thought and Contemporary Issues, if all the details can be worked out before school closes for the Spring quarter. This would be an accelerated course beginning June 19th and taught by Dr. Leon Obien. Help us get the word around and it could be the beginning of a very good thing for CCC in days to come. Some financial aid could be available, but the students must register first and then apply.

RECRUITING MEANS...'US'

This summer will be a great time for all of us to carry some material about CCC in our car, in our briefcase, and on our person. It is so much easier to talk about something if you have a piece of literature in your hand. Make a daily purpose to talk to someone that you come across about CCC. Don't wait for that "perfect" moment...it won't come. We need to "take the kingdom by force" and "make" the way open to talk about what is really important to all of us. If we are convinced that CCC is the way to go, then let's roll. Talk it up. Lift it up. Pray it up. Listen, friend, God is in this... and if you want to be part of the miracle, then get with the program. Make CCC and 'US', you and me, synonymous. All for one and one for all.

ADVANCEMENT COMMITTEE

When Jon Hoghaug felt to be relieved as the chairman of the Advancement Committee, that responsibity fell to president Harris Lidstrand. the first meeting of the committee was held at the Hilton Hotel for a breakfast session. It began at 8:00 a.m. and adjourned at 10:00 a.m. sharp. All the members are busy people and appreciated the fact of our consideration of their time. It was a productive time of getting acquainted and discussing the importance of advancing the "foundation principle" of giving to the College. Each went away with many thoughts on how to develop the program for the future success of financial giving to CCC. Members on the Committee are: Mr. Holmes Bryan, Evangelical Development Ministries; Mr. Phil Cothran, State Farm Insurance and former owner of Ambassador Christian High School; Mr. Tino Garza, Attorney; Mr. Jon Hoghaug, Air Florce retired; Mr. Julio Macedo, Prime Real Estate Investments; Mr. David Olson, Lee Bernard & Co.; Mr. Ron Messenger, Investor, and Harris Lidstrand, Chair. The potential of this group is in the hands of the Lord, but each has committed to be a vital source of strength in prayer and invovlement of seeking the best ideas for success.
